Abstract
Seven species of planktonic foraminifera collected at a depth of 180 fathoms off Mandapam in the Guif of Mannalr are recorded for the first time from Indian waters. They are (1) Ovbulina bilobata (d' Osbiigruy), ( 2 ) Globigerina trilsculimides. Plummer, (3) G. pcmva Bolli, ( 4 ) G. protolafo Bolli, ( 5 ) Glohrotalia pseud~bulloides (Plumnier) (4) Cloborotalia pseudomenmdii Bloli and (7) Globorotalia opinra Bolli. These are plagic form which are found to be abundantt in the tropical warm waters at great depths. Details regarding the morphology and the distribution of the species have been given
