Abstract
A comparative study of linear and non· linear parameter estimation procedures for allometric model describing the length · weight relationship is carried out. It is shown thallhe latter approach is the correct one from statistical point of view. II is demonstrated. by an illu stration, that the proposed procedure may yield parameter estimates vvhich are n01 only quantitatively different from the corresponding ones for linear estimation but also have a bearing on the biological interpretation.
