Abstract
The marine fisheries of the world can be broadly grouped under two major categories, namely demersal fisheries and pelagic fisheries. Demersal fisheries are confined to the continental shelf and conti. nental slope and are chiefly exploited by using various types of trawls which are towed from fishing vessels to drag along the bottom.
