Abstract
Rapid diagnosis of diseases is indispensable in aquaculture management for control of diseases and for developing appropriate strategies in health management of cultured stock. Lack of knowledge about diseases and their reasons as well as absence of tools to accurately diagnose diseases often lead to indiscriminate use of chemicals and antibiotics in culture systems. This results not only in environmental pollution but also pave the way for the development of disease resistant pathogenic organisms (Karunasagar and Karunasagar, 1998).
