    Abstract

For collection management and resource sharing arrangement of scientific literature for oceanography and fisheries research, a study was conducted and subsequently subtantial duplication was identified relating to subscription to periodicals in some special libraries of Cochin City. The study highlights the duplication of acquisition and the amount spent for these journals. In order to solve this problem a networked environment is essential for collection development. Also discusses the facilities and databases available for the development of such a networking system within the city,
