Abstract
Forecasts of the magnitude of the prawn fishery based on the index of postlarval and juvenile abundance in estuaries and backwaters have been attempted. With the data available from the Ennore estuary near Madras on the postlarval and juvenile abundance an attempt was made to see whether any prediction of the forthcoming fishery of the ensuing season in 1983-84 was possible.
