Abstract

A wealth of information on different aspects of culture of penaeid prawns is continuously being Made available in recent years as a result of active r&d programmes taken up by several organisations. A compilation of these information covering the areas such as breeding, rearing, seed production, nutrition And diseases of important species of penaeid prawns being cultured along the coasts around the Indian ocean and indo-paciflc, is presented in this paper. This review would be useful to understand The present status of the culture of these prawns and to formulate future strategies.
