Abstract
We remember with deep respect Padma Shri Dr. S. Ayyappan, whose visionary leadership and lasting contributions to agriculture and fisheries research continue to inspire our work. ICAR–CMFRI remains committed to advancing India’s marine fisheries sector through science-driven, inclusive and sustainable initiatives. Our active engagement in national programmes such as the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, along with strategic collaborations and technology dissemination, reflects our focus on strengthening coastal livelihoods and resource management. The Marine Fisheries Census 2025 preparations and Innovations like the VyAS-NAV platform will further enable data-driven governance. With continued emphasis on mariculture, seaweed farming, ecosystembased management and capacity building, we aim to contribute to a resilient Blue Economy through technology, partnerships and community participation
