Abstract
Divya Vishwambharan, a senior scientist at the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute and the only female research diver, has completed 50 scientific dives in the deep sea. She has completed 50 scientific dives in offshore, coral reef and island ecosystems off the coast of Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep. The dives started at a depth of 20 meters and reached 38 to 40 meters. A study on the dangers of 'ghost nets' was published as a paper in 2025. Dives to study the life cycle of the squid, from reproduction, have also been completed. Both reports will be submitted soon.
