Abstract
The 2026 Matsya Mela in Lakshadweep, held in Kavaratti from January 10-12, drew significant crowds, celebrating the sea, science, and local culture. Organised by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) under the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, the three-day event concluded with a strong push for the establishment of an integrated fisheries hub in the islands to boost the local economy and improve the livelihoods of fishing communities.
