Abstract

Aquaculture is essential for addressing food security hy providing nutritious food, especially as the global population grows. Known as the "dawn of the blue era," aquaculture can revolutionize seafood production sustainably, offering an alternative to overfishing. By raising fish in controlled environments, it eases pressure on marine ecosystems, reduces reliance wild fisheries, and ensures a more efficient and predictable supply of seafood. As a result, aquaculture has become an important solution to meet the rising global demand for seafood. Technologies developed by ICAR-CMFRI, including cage and pond fish farming, biofloc, ornamental fish culture, seaweed farming, and shellfish farming, are widely accepted by farmers for income generation and livelihood improvement across India
