Abstract

Gelatine waste (GW ), a byproduct after extraction of gelatine from animal bones, was used to partially replace fish meal in the feed for juvenile Penaeus indicus. Three feeds containing 10, 2 0 and 30% GW were prepared and juveniles of P. Indicus were fed for 45 days. 20% GW favoured highest growth (188% ), maximum digestibility (93%) and survival (92%). Lowest survival and digestibility were observed in feed containing 30% GW. However, no significant variation in FCR, survival and digestibility was noticed am ong the various feeds.
