Abstract
കാടപ്പക്ഷികളെ നൂതന പ്രജനന പ്രക്രിയകളിലൂടെ വ്യാവസായികാടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ വികസിപ്പിച്ചെടുത്തതു ജപ്പാൻകാരാണ്. അതുകൊണ്ട് തന്നെ ഇവ 'ജപ്പാനീസ് കാട (ജപ്പാനീസ് ക്വയിൽ)' എന്നാണ് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. പഴമക്കാർക്ക് കാടകളുടെ ഔഷധ മേന്മയേയും ഗുണങ്ങളെയും പറ്റിയുള്ള അറിവിന്റെ തെളിവാണ് 'ആയിരം കോഴിയ്ക്ക് അരകാട' എന്ന പഴഞ്ചൊല്ല്.
