Abstract
Lesser-known scorpion fish Parapterois macrura was first reported by Alcock in 1898. Since his report, no photographic record of this species has been made available to the scientific world. This is the first ever colour photographic record of this species. The specimen was collected from a multi-day trawler catch at Mangalore Fishing Harbour which operated at a depth of 151 m, 40 km south off Mangalore.
