Abstract
Commercial cultivation of Kappaphycus alvarezi was started in 2003 along the Tamil Nadu coast.By 2010, K. alvarezii production was carried out in five coastal districts of Tamil Nadu namely Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Thanjavur and Pudukottai.
