Abstract

This relatively large flatfish is known from the west coast of India to Pakistan, and possibly to Oman and the Gulf of Aden. It typically inhabits shallow waters, where it is a small component of the bycatch of demersal trawl fisheries, possibly due to its relative rarity. No additional data are available regarding its population size or trends. However, this is a large flatfish and given the presumed increased fishing pressure in the region, is likely to be susceptible to overexploitation. Therefore, it is listed as Data Deficient.
