Abstract
Mussel farming is a rapidly expanding coastalmariculture enterprise, being widely adopted by fishfarmers in India. Unlike other mariculture practices,mussel farming is less capital intensive and henceoffers great potential for creating livelihood andemployment opportunities to the coastalcommunities. During the year 2015, the musselfarming sector contributed 68% of the farmedbivalve production of 11,435 tonnes in the country.
