Abstract
Metapenaeopsis Borradaili (de Man) has been described from the type localities ofSiboga Expedition, by de Man (1911) and later from Australia by obtaining a single male by Dall (1957). The present material from the Laccadive Archipelago was kindly passed on to me for study by Dr. S. Jones, former Director of Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute. The specimens were collected from the coral reef area and the lagoons of the Islands during the collection of fishes using fish poison. This is the first report of the species from the Indian Ocean, thus extending its distribution far west to the Arabian Sea.
