Abstract
On 14th September 2012, a sperm whale Physeter macrocephalus was found stranded in dead condition near Talashil landing centre along the coast of Maharashtra (Fig. 1a & b). The whale (locally called ‘tive’) measured 13.7 m in total length with a body depth of 1.2 m (in the middle region of the body).
