    Abstract

Alternate technologies are the urgent need of the hour to produce more resources from the costal water and also to generate employment opportunities for the fishermen. Open sea cage culture is one answer to address this problem partially. India has a cost line of 7517 km where open sea cage culture can be initiated at selected places where these systems will not clash with the fishing operation of the traditional and mechanized sector.
