Yohannan, T M (1977) Studies on the mackerel fishery of Mangalore area during 1969-73. Indian Journal of Fisheries, 24 (1&2). pp. 113-123.
The mackerel fishery was a success in 1970-71 and faillure in 1972-73. The relative abundance of juvenilles and fluctuations in monsoon intensity seem to have great beaning an the fishery. Spawning appears to be intense around July and January. The length frequency studies reveal that mackerel memuring 14-16 cm and 20-22 crn are one-year-oilds and two-yleatr-o~lds msptively. The lengthweight rejlatbtnship of m'atle and female fish is given. The rate of decrease per month for the first two seasons wlelpe 0.19 and 0.34 respzctively.
