    Abstract

Chirocentrus nudus and C. dorab were examined for some aspects of reproduction from drift net catches of two localities namely, Palk Bay and Gulf of Mannar around the Rameswaram Island (la t. 9"17' N, long. 79°17' E.) for a period of four years. The two species differ from each other in some respects and resemble each other in some other. Each species, too, shows differences in some aspects between the two localities. Generally, spawning season of C. nudus extends from February to July, intensive spawning taking place during April-June /July each year.
