Abstract
The marine fisheries sector of India has, over the years, grown to the level of a major industry with a gross capital investment of around Rs 3350 crores and a gross annual income of about Rs 8000 crores (at the landing centre price level). This sector continues to be one of the major suppliers of protein food to the domestic as well as overseas markets.
