Abstract
During the year, the Institute made valuable contributions especially in the field of mariculture. A significant achievement was the successful culture of elvers of the fresh water eel in running water tanks at Mandapam. The elvers about 10 cm in length and 2 grams in weight on an average attained the harvestable size of 35 cm in lcngth and 106 grams in weight at the end of the first year.
