Abstract
Mangroves form an integral part of the estuarine and coastal lagoon systems. It is a life support system. An open system interacting with other ecosystems. World wide mangroves occupy about 171,000 Km2 yielding about one million tonnes of finfish and shellfish in subsistence capture and captive fisheries.
