Abstract
The Pulicat Lake was surveyed from the barmouth to Ougarajapatnam for molluscan fauna Extensive oyster beds occur in the southernmost region of the Pulicat Lake. Dense population of oyster beds wes'eco'ded at Kulathumedu and scattered distribution near the mouth, Moosimani lock. Kottaikuppam. Sriha'liiota and Ougarajapatnam on the northern side of the lake. Beds of the clams, Meretrix casfa and Katelysia opima was found arcund the small Islets lying between Gunakuppam and Kottaikuppam. Regular fishery for clams exists in this area.
