    Abstract

A realistic picture of the tides of world oceans requires considerable amount of data both from the coastal waters and from the open ocean. The data from the open ocean is seriously lacking at present. Three methods have been suggested to provide an image of the oceanic tides. The limitations of each of these methods have also been pointed out. Using the available informations, a picture of principle lunar tides - M| of the oceans has been given. This is an improvement over the picture presented by the author earlier.
