Abstract
Venkataraman and George (1964) have drawn our attention to the distribution of file-fish along the South-west coast of India. In this connection it may be of interest to know about the habitat and distribution of balistids in the Gulf of Mannar from Manapad to Vaipaar within the area bound by Lat. 8°20'N.-9001N. and Long. 78°101E.-78025'E. from 10-30 metre depth zone.
