Abstract
Recently one of us (L.M.) made a collection of piscicolous copepods in which were twentysix females of Heniochophilus Yamaguti and Yamasu (1959). A detailed study of this rich collection has shown that Anuretes brmchialis Rangnekar (1953) is the same as Heniochophilus japonicus Yamaguti and Yamasu (1959). As Rang- nekar's description has priority, H. japonicus becomes a synonym of H. branchialis (Rangnekar).
