    Abstract

Shellfish, comprising a diverse group of aquatic invertebrates with a protective shell or exoskeleton, encompass molluscs such as oysters, mussels, and clams, as well as crustaceans like shrimp, crabs, and lobsters, providing a valuable source of protein, essential nutrients, and economic revenue. Crustaceans, characterized by segmented bodies covered with armour-like sections of thick or thin shells and jointed appendages, include crabs, shrimps, lobsters, and crayfish. Molluscs are further classified into three types: Bivalves, including clams, oysters, and mussels; Gastropods, comprising abalone, conch, and whelk; and cephalopods, which have a soft pliable body with an internal shell, a beaked head bearing tentacles, and encompass squids, cuttlefish, and octopus.
