Abstract

വേനൽ കടുത്തതോടെ പഴങ്ങൾക്ക് ആവശ്യക്കാരേറുകയാണ്. എന്നാൽ, വിപണിയിൽ ലഭ്യമാകുന്ന പഴങ്ങളധികവും കേരളത്തിന് പുറത്ത് നിന്നാണെന്നതാണ് വാസ്തവം. വേനൽചൂടിനെ തടയാൻ ഏറ്റവും മികച്ച നാടൻ വിഭവമായ പൊട്ടുവെള്ളരി(blonde cucumber) നാട്ടിൽ തന്നെയുണ്ടെന്ന കാര്യം നാം പലപ്പോഴും മറന്നു പോകാറുണ്ട്. ഏറെ ഗുണമേൻമയുള്ളതും നാട്ടിൻപുറങ്ങളിൽ കൃഷി ചെയ്ത് ഉൽപാദിപ്പിക്കുന്നതുമായ പൊട്ടുവെള്ളരിയെയും അവയുടെ ജ്യൂസിനെയും ജനകീയമാക്കാനൊരുങ്ങുകയാണ് എറണാകുളം കൃഷി വിജ്ഞാന കേന്ദ്രം (കെവികെ).
