Abstract
The plankton samples obtained during the cruises of 'R.V. VARUNA' along the west coast of India, Oulf of Mannar and the Laccadive Sea have brought to light the occurrence of 4 species of ostracods, Diasterope bisetosa Poulsen, Parasterope nana Poulsen, Synasterope oculata (Brady) and Asteropina nodulifera Poulsen belonging to the sub-Family Asteropinae. Being new records for the Indian Seas, they are described and illustrated here.
