Abstract
Metapenaeopsis gallensis (Pearson) which was hitherto considered as a doubtful species appears to be a distinct species belonging to the mogiensis-sroup of non-strldulating Metapenaeopsis. The species which is recorded for the first time from Indian waters is redescribed and compared with the closely related species.
