ഏകദേശം മുപ്പതിനായിരം ടൺ ഉണങ്ങിയ പായൽ ഓരോ വർഷവും വിളവെടുക്കാമെന്നും ഹെക്ടറിൽ നിന്ന് 150 ടണ് വരെ ഉൽപാദനം നേടാമെന്നും സി എം എഫ് ആർ ഐ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞൻ ഡോ. മുഹമ്മദ് കോയ പറയുന്നു. വൻതോതിലുള്ള കടൽപായൽ കൃഷിയുമായി ലക്ഷദ്വീപ് ഭരണകൂടം. ജനവാസമുള്ള ഒമ്പത് ദ്വീപുകളിലാണു കൃഷി ആരംഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. കേന്ദ്ര സമുദ്രമത്സ്യ ഗവേഷണ സ്ഥാപനം (സിഎംഎഫ്ആർഐ) ദ്വീപിൽ പരീക്ഷണാടിസ്ഥാനത്തിലുള്ള കൃഷി വൻ വിജയമായതിനെ തുടർന്നാണിത്.
