Abstract
The proposal for establishment of a Central Fisheries Research Institute was first made in 1943 by the late Dr. Baini Prasad, the then Director, Zoological Survey of India, which was endorsed by the subcommittee of the Policy Committee on Agriculture and Fisheries in its 1945 report.
