Abstract
Empowering the fishermen and fish farmers through proper guidance in sustainable fishing practices, extending technology support for appropriate culture technologies and species selection has always been the priority of this institute. Standardised seed production technologies have given a boost for sea farming activities and has enabled farmers to access good quality fish seed and fingerlings of high unit value fishes like cobia, silver pompano and orange spotted grouper. Access to markets and development of value chains is crucial for the producers to reap the benefits of adopting new technologies and knowledge base extended by the scientific community.
