Abstract
The Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) is partnering with the Korampadam Service Co-operative Bank, Kothad, to promote cage fish farming in the backwaters off Kadamakudy. This will benefit a few hundred families in Kadamakkudy. A skill development programme was organised to train them in the method. It covered cage fabrication, site identification, species selection, feed management, harvest, and marketing. CMFRI will also offer technical guidance to villagers, while the bank will grant them loans, said A. Gopalakrishnan, director of the institute.
