    Abstract

India’s total marine fish landings recorded a slight increase of 6.6 per cent during 2016 compared to the previous year with a production of 3.63 million tonnes against 3.40 million tonnes in 2015. The estimates of country’s marine fish landings of 2016 released by the Kochi headquartered ICARCentral Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) today highlighted that for the first time after 1998 sardine was not the topranked species in terms of the landings in the country.
