Abstract
The institute's unstinting and pioneering efforts in popularising sea cage culture technology is now bearing fruit with several fish farmers coming forward to adopt the culture practices with our active technical support. The recognition to these efforts have come by way of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Antyodaya Krishi Puraskar Award instituted by ICAR to a tribal fish farmer from Gujarat successfully practicing cage culture of marine fishes. This will motivate us to further extend the benefits of research and technologies developed disseminated to the fishers to improve their livelihoods and boost fish production in a sustainable manner. The institute has responded to stakeholder needs by coming out with the policy guidelines to address conflicts arising out of light fishing and Non-Detrimental Findings for sharks and rays to comply with requirements under CITES for international trade. Our Institute has won the Rajarshi Tandon Award for efficient implementation of the Official Languge programmes for the seventh consecutive year which is a commendable achievement.
