Abstract
Aquaculture is recognised as one among the frontier areas for augmenting fish and shellfish production to meet the demands of animal protein for the growing population and to mitigate the growing protein malnutrition, to some extent • Recent studies have s-own that substantial increase in production of culture fisheries could be achieved through judicious usage of operational inputs# including feed# fertilizers etc. Besides, studies in India and elsewhere have shown that survival, growth, nutrition and spawning of fish and shellfishes are significantly affected by the quality and quantity of the feed available or supplied. Thus nutrition plays a vital role in aquaculture.
