    Abstract

The development of osmoregulatory powers is closely dependent on the adaptation of the marine animals to one of the most stressful and exacting aquatic biotopes, the brackish water environment. A major problem encountered by the estuarine organisms is salinity change due to the tidal cycle and climatic conditions.
